DEVON County Council is calling on people to remember older or vulnerable relatives, friends and neighbours and to check they are well and have all they need during the current cold snap.
Their advice is for people to stay inside as much as possible; keep warm and ensure that they have lots of fluids and warm drinks; eat what they can; let people know they are OK, such as family, friends and care providers.
Anyone struggling and who cannot reach their care provider can, contact Care Direct on 0845 155 1007.
Care Direct, which is the access route into social services, is part of the county council's My Devon customer services.
