Fremington election is a result for Mrs Bell

THE Fremington by election held on Thursday has been won by Joanne Bell.

The election followed the resignation of former councillor David Jury and was contested between Mrs Bell, who received 446 votes and Doctor Elizabeth Gill, who received 158.

It was the only by election held following the resignation of six members of the council and the other five places are all to be filled by co-option.

Mrs Bell had said she was standing for the Fremington and Yelland ward because “I believe passionately in democracy, free speech and treating others with respect.”
