Swimming sessions can be enjoyed at North Devon Leisure Centre and Ilfracombe Pool, which are both owned by North Devon Council and run on its behalf by Parkwood Leisure. The sessions are all part of a Government initiative to encourage more people to take part in the sport and enjoy the health benefits of swimming. Councillor David Butt, Portfolio Holder, for Diversity says: " We all know that swimming is the best form of exercise. I am delighted that North Devon Council is working in partnership with Parkwood Leisure to provide the opportunity for the over 60s to benefit from this new scheme. "The council aims to provide as many accessible facilities as possible so that there is something for everyone in the community to take part in and enjoy."Funding is available to local authorities across the country through the Government's Free Swimming Programme.
