HATHERLEIGH'S music and arts festival returns to the town square for its 15th year from July 22 to 25 with four days of street performances, music, workshopsand exhibitions.
A fantastic music line up for the town square marquee includes The Loose Salute, The Hot Tone Rhythm Boys, The FOS Brothers, Douglas E Powell and Central Casting, Nicola Clark, Pavlov and Eat the Rich.
The street market, also in the square, brings a wealth of crafts, including unique jewellery, handmade glass, basket wear, floral creations and a food gazebo, from lunchtime on Saturday onwards, with pig roast, BBQ, crepes, fresh fruit cups and creative cupcakes.
Visual artists are exhibiting from around the region at various locations throughout the town. There will be workshops on Saturday to bring on new experiences. These include salsa dancing, pro football coaching, portrait sketching, ukulele and street dance.
A festival book club is a new event, with the opportunity to pick up a free loan copy of Jane Feavers' new book Love Me Tender, read and return. Then on the Saturday, discuss it with the author!
Friday night sees Ultimate Madness coming to the festival at the community centre. The tribute performance is delivered at a blistering pace with a few ska classics thrown in by The Specials and Bad Manners.
The Sunday brings a combined church service, including Callington Gospel Choir and a recital by local organist Roger Cleverdon.
Hatherleigh's big event closes with David Benson's classic one-man show Think No Evil of Us: My Life With Kenneth Williams, which unlocks the character of one of Britain's best-loved and most-missed entertainers.
Tickets for the workshops and shows are available from the box office on (01837) 810624
