The man who took Bideford Town Council to the High Court to fight prayers has won an award.
THE former town councillor who won his fight at the High Court against council prayers has been awarded a £1,000 prize.
Clive Bone was awarded the Simon Biber memorial award for special achievement by the National Secular Society in London this weekend.
The awards ceremony was attended by 160 guests including world-famous secularist Professor Richard Dawkins and Lord Eric Avebury.
Mr Bone said: “I was completely surprised and flattered by the award, and I think it proves that an ordinary person can take on whole institutes.”
Mr Bone, an atheist, successfully fought alongside the NSS against Bideford Town Council last month to abolish prayers during formal council proceedings.
