Hospital paediatrician granted bail ahead Exeter Crown Court hearing next month

A former children's doctor at North Devon District Hospital has appeared in court today (Friday) to face charges of making and distributing indecent images of children.

Jonathan James Walsh, 46, of Wordsworth Avenue, Barnstaple, appeared at North Devon Magistrates' Court this afternoon.

Walsh, who was a consultant paediatrician at the hospital, did not enter a plea and spoke only to confirm his name and address at the short hearing.

He was charged with two counts of making indecent images of children and five counts of distributing indecent images of children.

The case has been committed to Exeter Crown Court, where Walsh will appear on Friday August 12 at 10am.

He was granted bail, but with the condition that he is not to have unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.
