ATLANTIC Village at Bideford has a treat in store when it hosts a food fair over the May Bank Holiday weekend. It will be run in conjunction with Torridge District Council and showcase the very best local and seasonal produce.Stalls will offeri the finest locally produced goods on Saturday and Sunday next week. As well as simple and nutritious fruit, vegetables, cheese and meat, shoppers will be able to pick up fresh juices, smoothies, dips, herbs and spices, delicious handmade pies, jams, chutneys, pickles plus locally brewed real ale and much more.Cooking demonstrations by local chefs will be taking place throughout Saturday at ProCook. The theme is al fresco dining with dishes ranging from rainbow trout in a fresh green pesto followed by apple strudel in a vanilla sauce, Also on the meno will be sticky chilli chicken breasts in a barbecuestyle, raspberry tiramisu, red mullet and scallops on a crab risotto and much more. Shoppers who watch the demonstrations will be able to try the food. Centre Manager Jane Mcleod said: "The food fairs at Atlantic village have become such popular events for the centre that we receive many calls from customers asking when the next one is planned. We have already received several inquiries from local producers regarding our October food event which is very exciting news. "It is also fabulous to be dovetailing with Daryl Littlejohns' Chef Corner initiative. ProCook has in the past provided an excellent venue for professional cooking demonstrations and this event promises to be more mouth watering than ever with showcase dishes being created before your very eyes by top chefs from local hotels and restaurants.
