Focus helps Orchard Vale plant a bumper crop

PUPILS, parents and staff at Orchard Vale Community School in Barnstaple are expecting a bountiful harvest following a generous donation from the local Focus DIY store.

Through store manager Jason Putt the business has given the school a large number of seeds plus a brand new shed for its allotment.

Teaching assistant Sarah Felgate said they had been overwhelmed by the amount of seeds they received and the Barnstaple store’s generosity.

“We have been able to pass this good deed on – we have lots at the allotment, the children have had them plus teachers and parents,” she said.

“This community spirited act has benefitted a huge amount of people at the school and associated with it. From this year we will be growing our own food to be eaten in school.”

Store manager Jason said as a company Focus was keen to support “grow your own” initiatives and the Barnstaple store was pleased to support its own community.
