Flying car lands in pub beer garden

Emergency services called to Sawmills Inn at Berrynarbor after Toyota careers off A399 and into beer garden.

A car flew 50 metres through the air and crashed in the beer garden of the Sawmills Inn pub near Berrynarbor this morning (Friday).

Police were called just after 9.30am and said a Toyota Yaris had ‘gone over the river, through the air and landed in the beer garden’ of the pub on the A399 between Ilfracombe and Combe Martin.

A woman in the car, which is registered to Ilfracombe, was taken to North Devon District Hospital by South Western Ambulance Service, thought to be as a precaution.

The Yaris was the only vehicle involved and it is not yet known what caused the crash.
