Flowers taken from daughter’s grave

SIR – May I say a big “thank-you” to the person or persons who took two bouquets of mixed flowers from our daughter’s grave in Appledore cemetery between Saturday, February 12 and Friday, February 18?

We can only assume they were taken as Valentine gifts for their wives/girlfriends as the flowers had been left in the wrappers to protect them from the wind. These flowers were anniversary gifts from relatives and friends from South and North Wales and had gift/memory cards attached to the pots. This has caused a lot of distress to our daughter’s family, especially her two teenage sons.

I can only hope they were enjoyed by the persons who received them but deep down I hope all the petals dropped off within 24 hours of being indoors. Next year, buy your own flowers. A very upset Bideford mum (name supplied).
