UPDATE: Road now reopen between Bideford and Barnstaple following five vehicle collision near Roundswell this morning.
The A39 has now reopened from Bideford to Barnstaple following a multiple vehicle collision this morning (Thursday).
Two women have been taken to hospital, but they are not thought to have life-threatening injuries, and the road was closed for several hours.
It is understood five vehicles were involved in the collision near Roundswell at 8.30am.
They were an Audi A3 registered to Carlyon Bay, and a Ford Focus, Ford KA, Citroen Dispatch and Volkswagen Golf, all registered to Bideford addresses.
Rush hour traffic is experiencing delays due to the collision near the Rooksbridge picnic area.
The road was closed from Westleigh to Roundswell with police, ambulance and fire fighters on the scene.
Highways teams also helped with the clear up.
