A festival of learning at Petroc will highlight part-time courses and give people a chance to see the new building before it opens in September.

Petroc is opening the doors of its brand new lifestyle and tourism centre on Thursday.

The Festival of Learning in the new building from 4pm-7pm will showcase part-time and recreational courses at the college with tasters and a chance to talk to tutors.

Kate Moore, event organiser, said: “We deliver such a wide variety of courses, and our offer is always changing and evolving, so this is the perfect chance for people to come along and see what we do.”

The building is due to open to students in September and will include a spa, hair and beauty salons and a restaurant.

Kevin Hazell, assistant principal for lifestyle, care and foundation learning, said Petroc was looking to encourage members of the public to use the building.

He said: “We have plans but our ears are open to suggestions too; we want what is best for the students and the community.

“We want to work together with big companies and bring something new to the area too.”
