The third Irish naval vessel built at Appledore Shipyard was successfully floated at first light yesterday (Thursday). The Williams Butler Yates is a 90-metre fast patrol vessel and will complete fitting out until June. Harbour matser Roger Hoad said: She floated as expected with no list and a good trim as per the naval architects expectations TDC Pilots aboard conducted the ship with two tugs - the Will Endeavour and the newly re-engined Lundy Puffin in calm conditions after yesterdays gales. The now well practiced event went very smoothly, and the ship once again is a credit to the shipbuilders being in well advanced state of completion. Wind was a convenient North North East direction and light.
