First Big Breakfast for hospice a resounding success

IT WAS all hands on deck for Philip Milton and the Trimstone Manor Country House Hotel's team for the inaugural Big Breakfast event in aid of North Devon Hospice. They raised more than �800 in a few hours, with everyone mucking in and helping out! The hotel, near Ilfracombe, served up 85 full breakfasts, all cooked by head chef Jon Hughes. Owner Philip Milton said: "I have been pleased to support the hospice since its inception so offering to host a "Big Breakfast" was a pleasure, quite a test for our new restaurant as well!" Emma Lowe, for the hospice, added: "This really was a team effort and we are so grateful to the hotel for donating everything for the hospice's benefit and also the generosity of the diners." There are still plenty of Big Breakfast events due to take place this week: _ Thursday 26th March - Instow Yacht Club (9.00am - 12.00noon). Views don't get better than across the estuary from Instow Yacht Club while you tuck into your freshly cooked breakfast. There will also be a jam stall and cake stall to which donations are being gratefully received! Julia and her team will be offering tea, coffee and delicious toast and jam tasters with donations to the hospice!_ Saturday 28th March - Table Table at Barum Gate (09.00am - 11.00am). Peter and the team are staunch supporters of the hospice and will be delighted to welcome you to their Big Breakfast. All you can eat for �5.00 per person. You can contact their 'Breakfast Team' on (01271) 377830._ Saturday 28th March - Braunton Ladies Bowling Club & Friends (10.00am - 1.00pm). Not only can Braunton Bowlers and friends enjoy a full English breakfast with proceeds going to the hospice, there will also be a cake, book and bric-a-brac stalls. This Big Breakfast event is open to Braunton Bowlers and friends only. Please contact Mrs S Jenkins._ Saturday 28th AND Sunday 29th March - Mother Meldrum's, Lynton (08.00am - 6.00pm). A short hop, skip and jump from the Valley of the Rocks so you can walk off this two-course, 'King of Breakfasts' at �9.95 per head that even includes a complimentary glass of bucks fizz, courtesy of Cathy Richards and her merry band of volunteers, who will be cooking._ Sunday 29th March - Torrington Big Breakfast with your 'Love My Devon' Winner, Anne Tattersall. (8.00am - 1.00pm). Anne will be offering 'The Full Monty of an Irish Breakfast'. Please contact Anne on (01805) 622243 to book your place and get directions! North Devon Hospice will also be inviting staff, patients and anyone in the community to join us for our very own "Hospice Big Breakfast" on Friday at Deer Park, Newport from 8.00am to 10.00am.
