BARNSTAPLE company J+S Ltd is playing its part in the wave and tidal energy industry off the Orkney Isles.

The company, which has 120 employees working from bases in Barnstaple and Aberdeen, has installed and tested seven of its electrical splice housings at the EMEC Wave & Tidal test facility, enabling device developers to connect electrically to the site's infrastructure.

Chris Napier, general manager of the company's marine renewables department, said: "This is a great achievement for J+S and specifically the installation team, who carried out the deployment in ever changing weather conditions at the EMEC facility in Orkney. We are proud to have completed this project successfully, which strengthens the position of J+S as a designer, manufacturer and installer to the marine renewables market."

J+S has further splice housings to install at EMEC this autumn on the remaining cables at the Wave & Tidal site.
