PLANS for new playgroup equipment at Orchard Vale School in Barnstaple took a leap forward this week thanks to a local IT company.Mark Tattersall, managing director of Edutech, which provides IT equipment and services for schools, presented the school council with £1,000 and a laptop computer which will be auctioned to raise more funds.Staff and pupils identified a need for need for extra outdoor seating and something to encourage creative play and the school council came up with the idea of a wooden playboat. When pupils gave Mr Tattersall information about their plans at a school council meeting and told him they had raised £1,000 towards the cost, he offered to match it and to donate a laptop.School project co-ordinator Dawn Crabb said: "This generous donation is fantastic news for our school. Our school council must have made a great impression on Mr Tattersall!"Mr Tattersall said it was good to be able to put something back into schools. The company was aware of schools' tight budgets and put aside money annually to help schools with particular needs. Last year they had been able to help Park School with their plans for an observatory.
