Two firearms that were stolen in a burglary in Bideford have been safely recovered, say North Devon Police.

Officers have been investigating a burglary that took place between Saturday, July 8 and and Sunday, July 9.

Among items stolen were a number of firearms.

Although a number of the firearms were recovered, two of the firearms were outstanding. These have now been located.

Detective Inspector Phil Gray from Barnstaple Police Station said: "We want to thank the public for their help which led to the successful recovery of the firearms. Our enquiries are continuing into the burglary.

"I also want to reassure members of the public that the outstanding weapons were not considered to pose a significant risk to the community."

A 38-year-old man and a 36-year-old man were arrested in connection with the incident and were released under investigation.
