Two people have been taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation after a property fire in Woolsery.

Fire fighters from Torrington, Hartland and Bideford were called to the house in Manor Park at around 6.50pm yesterday (Wednesday).

Station manager Graham Rooke said they arrived to find a man and woman outside of the house suffering smoke inhalation.

“When crews got there they found smoke issuing from the property,” he said.

“There was a fire in the lounge area. Crews worked well to go in and extinguish the fire, and give first aid to the casualties.”

Both people were taken to hospital by ambulance for further checks.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
