A man was treated for smoke inhalation after a fire at a Bideford flat in the early hours of this morning (Thursday.)
Two fire crews from the town attended the blaze at three storey terraced building in Market Street just after 1am. On arrival two more appliances were called for from Barnstaple and Appledore.
The fire was centred around a first floor flat in the building, which is a mix of residential and commercial properties.
Six fire fighters donned breathing apparatus to put out the blaze, but a quarter of the flat was severely damaged by fire, with the rest suffering heat and smoke damage.
