Six fire engines were scrambled to the scene in Ilfracombe this evening (Weds) after reports of a house fire.

FIRE fighters have been battling a blaze at a house in Chambercombe Park Road in Ilfracombe this evening (Weds).

Three fire engines were initially scrambled to the scene after numerous reports of a house on fire at around 6.30pm.

On arrival they found the building well alight and another three fire engines were called out to attend.

An aerial platform ladder, water bowser and incident command vehicle arrived at the scene and fire fighters used a hose reel jet, two main jets and breathing apparatus.
