Fire crews demonstrate car rescue

Crowds watched as a ‘casualty’ was cut from a car in a bid to highlight road safety.

BIDEFORD fire station held a road safety day on Saturday to help educate road users on staying safe.

The event at Bank End car park included a live demonstration of a ‘casualty’ being cut from a car with the help of paramedics.

Caroline Anderson, crew manager of the Bideford Group, said: “Road safety is high on our agenda as we attend so many road traffic collisions and education is part of the key in reducing casualty numbers.”

A number of different vehicles were at the event and safety advocates spoke to the public to give advice on staying safe on the roads.
