Fire crews avert Bishops Tawton barn blaze

Alarm raised on Sunday morning

FIREFIGHTERS from Barnstaple were called to dampen smouldering straw and wood chippings in a barn at Bishops Tawton yesterday (Sunday).

Two fire engines and the water foam carrier were scrambled to help cool down the overheating cuttings at around 11.30am.

Firemen used on site machinery to move the materials outside of the barn and remained at the scene for a period of time to ensure the area was safe.
