Fire at Hatherleigh industrial estate

AROUND 20 people were evacuated from premises at the Hatchmmoor Industrial Estate in Hatherleigh this morning (Wednesday) after a fire in an industrial building.

Two fire appliances attended the incident at just before 11am.

A spokesman for Devon Fire and Rescue Service said the outbreak was at a premises being used for the coating of metals, where products being dried on pallets caught fire and ignited insulation in the roof of an oven.

Staff at the premises were able to make out the fire on the pallets and firefighters removed the insulation in the oven roof.

There was only minor damage.
