Fire and police called to Northam car blaze

AN end terrace house in Northam was damaged by heat and smoke following a car fire in the early hours of this morning (Friday.)

The fire service were called to Riverbank Cottages at Lower Cleave just before 1am after several calls from the public, to discover a blue Audi A6 estate well alight.

A second fire appliance was requested from the Bideford station because smoke and heat from the fire was entering the nearby end terrace. The car was left severely damaged.

The cause of the fire is being investigated and police will this morning be making house to house enquiries and searching for any forensic evidence.
