Zombies took to the streets on Friday night as Ilfracombe Film Festival 2018 opened in apocalyptic style.
The biannual festival organised by volunteers is showing around 50 feature films plus short films at Ilfracombe Cinema throughout this weekend.
The theme of the day on Friday was plastic free, but Friday night was zombie night, with showings of Shaun of the Dead and Evil Dead at the cinema.
To get everyone in the mood, the first 40 to buy tickets were invited to zombie school, with professional make up and the opportunity to learn the zombie shuffle.
Unfortunately the students made a break for it and made their way up to the High Street, escorted by armed guards as they converged on the cinema.
Today (Saturday) included a Marilyn Monroe double bill, children’s films and a short film showcase.
There is still time to visit the Film Festival, with tomorrow paying homage to the suffragette movement and celebrating 100 years since women got the vote.
Films include North of the Sun, chronicling nine months in northern Norway, Fried Green Tomatoes and Daughters of the Dust.
Sunday evening is dedicated to the centenary of the end of World War One, featuring classic films Paths of Glory and Gallipoli.
There is still lots to see, so pick up a festival programme at the cinema or around the town, or go to www.ilfracombefilmfestival.co.uk .
