A Lynton fire fighter who has "given his all" to his home town station was among those honoured at an awards ceremony on Monday. Neil Shires was presented with a long service certificate and good conduct medals for 20 years of long and meritorious service."Nelly," as he is known, joined the service w hen he was just 18, following in the footsteps of his father who was a Sub Officer at Lynton.In 1996 he was promoted to Leading Fire Fighter and today holds the post of Crew Commander, as well as being a driver and co-responder.
