PERFORMERS are warming up their vocal chords for this year's North Devon Festival of Choirs.Two evenings of roof-raising vocal entertainment are taking place at the Queen's Theatre, Barnstaple, on Saturday and Sunday May 9 and 10, from 7pm.The Mayor and Mayoress of Barnstaple will be among the guests at the concerts.Spokesperson Maureen Sobey said: "This year we have all the usual local choirs plus visitors Casterbridge Male Voice Choir from Dorset, as well as the New Horizon Singers from Taunton and New Century Singers from Bovey Tracey. "We also have Ploughcapella from Torrington and two primary schools Newport and Fremington. "For the first time, West Buckland School is being represented by their boys' choir," she added."Students from Laine Theatre Arts will be joined by local groups Panache and Nigel Brooks Junior Singers."For more information, telephone the Queen's Theatre Box Office on (01271) 324242.
