A group of stranded walkers sparked alarm after apparently being cut off by the tide near Hartland Quay today (Sunday). The Clovelly RNLI Lifeboat, Toby Rundle, was launched at 4.40pm on request of the Coastguard following a call by a concerned member of the public. But the Tobys volunteer crew was stood down after the four walkers said they were aware of the tide and wanted to wait for it to recede before making their own way back. A spokesperson for the RNLI said: Thanks go to the member of public who called the Coastguard. As always, when in doubt it is best to shout.
