Second consultation event to view plans for new houses on the village green site and an extra car park for Westward Ho!

A second consultation event will be held over plans to redevelop Westward Ho! village green.

Members of the public can view plans to create a new play area and build houses and a community building on the site.

There are also plans to build a 100-space car park opposite the cricket ground.

Sean Kearney, commercial and leisure services manager, said: "The consultation event on July 1 was very well attended and we were pleased to hear peoples' views on proposals for the village green play area, a redevelopment of Golf Links Road Tennis Courts site and an additional car park for Westward Ho!

"A full range of opinions were aired and officers were on hand to explain more detail of the plans and answer queries.

"The event was arranged as part of the council's consultation initiative to enable proposals to be further developed that will hopefully lead to a brand new building for the Happy Café to occupy as well as children's play areas, enclosed park and multi-use games area.

"In order that young people and those who work can also see proposals and comment, another event is planned for 6-8pm on the July 13 at the School Room in Kingsley Hall.

"People can also have their say by visiting the council's website or emailing their comments."
