HAVE you ever wondered what happens in the museum when the lights go out? Well now is your chance to find out.The Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon is hosting its first Night Fever event on Saturday at 7pm. Visitors are invited to come along and explore the museum galleries by torchlight and join in with other family activities, such as making a pasta skeleton. This event is part of the annual, nationwide Museums at Night Weekend. La Nuit De Musee (night at the museum) was introduced by the French Culture Department and takes place on the nearest Saturday to International Museums Day in May. In 2008, 2,200 museums in 40 European countries took part in the event.Julian Vayne, Heritage Access Officer at the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon, said: "Come along and join in our activities and find out what a night at the museum is really like. Who knows what we might find?" Ruth Spires, Heritage Access Officer at the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon, said: "The museum team is really looking forward to this new venture and showing visitors the museum in a different light. We hope that it will continue for many years to come." The Museums at Night Weekend is organised by Culture24 - a charity that works with arts, heritage, education and tourism sectors.
