A new instalment of wildlife walker Ivan Huxtable’s popular sponsored rambles over Exmoor takes place next month.

A new instalment of wildlife walker Ivan Huxtable's popular sponsored rambles series is taking place this October.

The well-known Exmoor enthusiast will set off from Dunkery Gate on Sunday, October 2 and hopes as many people as possible will join him for the 10-mile walk.

It will be raising money for medical equipment for the hospital charity Over and Above and North Devon Hospice.

The Umberleigh man has organised numerous events and raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for local charities over the years.

Ivan will lead walkers around Webbers Post and Cloutsham, taking in the magnificent views over the moor.

The circular route will visit Exmoor's highest point at Dunkery Beacon, passing Bronze Age cairns with magnificent views of the Bristol Channel to Weston-super-Mare, across towards Cardiff and Porthcawl and Swansea and the Gower, with the Black Mountains as a back drop.

Over and Above fundraiser Julie Whitton said: "Ivan has so much knowledge about the moor.

"The views on his walks are always amazing and we expect our participants to see so much wildlife including red deer, Exmoor ponies, birds of prey and so much more.

"Without doubt it will be a wonderful day with so much to see, and definitely a trail that our walkers will remember."

Entry is free, but walkers are asked to raise sponsorship and all proceeds will be split equally between the two charities.
