Unemployment has fallen across North Devon and Torridge - and things are looking promising for the future, according to experts. North Devon had 470 claimants in June and Torridge had 410 - both seeing a year-on-year drop. Judith Hill, work coach at Exeter Job Centre, said Torridge had seen a total 45 per cent drop in claimants since 2010. She said: There is lots happening in the North Devon area, which is great to see as its had a bit of a tough time in recent years. Barnstaple Job Centre is working hard to begin recruiting next month for the new Brewers Fayre restaurant being built in Bideford. Theres the big Asda opening in Barnstaple with 200 new staff, and were providing training to help people apply. Also similiarly Cordant is recruiting warehouse staff for Norbord in South Molton which we are providing work academy training for. Ms Hill said generally there was a downward trend in unemployment across Devon. Its really encouraging, she added.
