COUNTING has begun across North Devon and Torridge for the Devon County Council elections held yesterday (Thurs).

The counts begin this morning at the North Devon Leisure Centre and Langtree Village Hall.

In Torridge, there was a 29.3 per cent turnout with 17,271 votes cast out of 59,043 residents eligible to vote.

Elsewhere votes have already been counted, with the Conservative party winning back Somerset which was under no overall control.
