A BUSY seaside street was temporarily closed to the public yesterday (Sunday) following reports of a gas leak.
Locals were evacuated and holidaymakers were unable to collect their cars from the main beach car park in Combe Martin after a small section of Cross Street was taped off for around half-an-hour, from around 2.30pm.
Firefighters from Combe Martin and Ilfracombe wore breathing apparatus to escort an elderly woman from the property, while Transco engineers isolated the gas and made the area safe.
