POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an accident in which an 81-year-old man died on the A3072 at Hatherleigh.
The accident happened at around 4.35pm on Saturday when the red Peugeot the local man was driving collided with a telegraph pole.
Police, fire and ambulance personnel attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles are thought to have been involved.
The police closed the road for about four hours to allow collision investigators to carry out their work.
