Police are appealing for witnesses after a local woman was ‘seriously’ injured in a collision on the A386 in the early hours of Sunday (August 12) morning.

According to Devon and Cornwall Police, officers were notified at around 1.20am this morning of a single vehicle collision on the A386 Churchill Way in the Northam area, near Bideford. A vehicle had collided with a pedestrian.

Officers say the incident involved a 69-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman. Both are believed to be local.

The woman was taken to Derriford Hospital with ‘serious’ injuries.

The road was closed overnight and a forensic examination of the scene took place.

Police have since re-opened the road.

Devon and Cornwall Police would like to speak to anyone who witnesses the collision. Anyone with information that may help the police is asked to ring 101 quoting log number 84 of August 12, 2018.
