Two air ambulances have landed in Braunton after a violent domestic dispute this afternoon (Friday).

Police said a woman has a leg injury and a man has a cut to his throat, but there are no further details on their injuries at this time.

Officers were called to the scene at Dyers Close just off East Street at around 3.10pm.

It is believed a crossbow was used to inflict the leg injury.

The Square and East Street is currently packed with police and ambulance service vehicles.

Traffic is reported as very heavy around Braunton and looks likely to affect rush hour.

Police say enquiries are underway.

Update 5.09pm: Police say both are believed to be in their 40s and the man’s condition is believed to be very serious.

Update 5.40pm: Police have confirmed armed officers attended the scene and said they will remain in the area while cordons are in place. The police helicopter also attended.
