ANXIOUS parents who want to find out more about steering their children away from the dangers of drugs are invited to join a new course, beginning in Bideford on Tuesday of next week (February 24.)The Drug Proof Your Kids team is returning to run a new six-session programme in the town, starting this Tuesday evening at the Wings Hall, in Lower Meddon Street at 7.30pm. It is delivered by a team of volunteers including a local police inspector and informs parents about how bad the drugs problem really is, what the drugs look like, and why young people misuse them. It is designed to help parents talk with their children about the issues involved and gives an opportunity for parents to learn from others about measures to help their children make good choices and say no to peer pressure. The course proved successful when held in Bideford last year, with parents who completed it saying they felt better equipped and confident when facing such issues and discussing them with their children. The course is also an opportunity for a little fun and laughter along the way, too!The Drug Proof Your Kids course costs £15 per person and all are welcome. Places are limited, so booking is essential. Leaflets can be obtained at Bideford College reception or by contacting the DPYK team on (01271) 336271, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the website at: www.dpyk.org.uk.
