A MAGNIFICENT dragon was the highlight of a magical Torrington carnival on Saturday night.Weeks of work and numerous duvets went into the making of the 25-foot monster, its companions and castle setting in the Dungeons and Dragons entry by brothers Stuart and Nick Davey and their families.Their fantasy entry brought the brothers the carnival's top prize for the second year in succession.Other delights in a high-class entry included an enchanted wood full of fairies, fearsome Vikings and pirates, Disneyland characters and comments on topical events such as the proposed sale of the New Street car park and the centenary of Torrington Cottage Hospital. The colourful show was watched by a healthy crowd of onlookers as it passed through the town and attracted the traditional shower of coins, this year amounting to £1,736, for good causes.
