Combe Martin Carnival parade is tonight (Wednesday) and there is much more to look forward to for the rest of the week. The festivities are already in full swing following a busy Opening Night on Saturday with live music, food and frivolities. A dog show at Hollands Park also proved popular, as did a sandcastle competition at the beach. The main parade this evening will assemble at Holdstone Way at the top of the village from 6pm, with judging at 6.30pm and moving off at 7.30pm*. Friday will see another mini carnival with the hilarious Wheelbarrow Fiesta, as teams of costumed characters wheel their barrows down the mile-long main street. Assembly is at Holdstone Way from 6.45pm, with judging at 7.15pm and moving off at 8pm. The celebrations will draw to a close with a firework display at the beach at around 9.30pm. Other events include a childrens pavement art competition at 10.30am on Friday in Borough Road at the seaside, plus a Classic Car Show on Saturday from 10am, at the Pack O Cards. Pick up your programme from outlets around the village or visit www.combemartincarnival.co.uk and the Combe Martin Carnival Facebook page.* Road closures will be in place during the Wednesday and Friday processions.
