An apprentice from Dolton has celebrated winning a national award at a glitzy ceremony at the Shard in London.

Levi Craze, 20, won the Learning Achievement Award 2018, from trade association The Electrical Distributors’ Association (EDA), as part of its National Apprenticeship Week celebrations 2018.

Levi works for the Bideford branch of Devondale Electrical Wholesalers, one of the EDA’s members.

He said: “It was a great honour to receive the award - I thoroughly enjoyed attending the event at the Shard.”

Branch manager, Sam Stephens, who also attended the event, added: “This is a tremendous achievement for Levi, who really showed incredible commitment to his role as an apprentice.

“It is a much-prized national award, and everyone in the company is extremely proud of him.”

Levi has now been taken on full-time in the branch and is currently mentoring Devondale Bideford’s new apprentice.

Margaret Fitzsimons, CEO at the EDA, said “Our annual EDA Awards recognise outstanding achievement by apprentices who have demonstrated excellence in their performance and a commitment to both their training and to their employer.

“There are fantastic career opportunities in the UK’s electrical wholesale sector and we hope this win encourages others to think about joining the industry.”
