Police ask dog owners to keep animals under control after attack on sheep in Braunton.

Police are reminding dog owners to keep their animals under control after three sheep were attacked in Braunton.

A sheep and a lamb were found dead by the farmer on Thursday morning and another sheep was seriously injured.

The sheep had been attacked on a local farm sometime between 7pm on Wednesday, July 11 and 7am on Thursday.

PC Simon Ogden, based in Barnstaple, said: “Incidents like these are very distressing for the farmer and animals.

“Owners must ensure their pets are not allowed into any fields with livestock.

“Walkers in the countryside should keep their dogs in sight and always on a lead whenever near farm animals.

“People who live near farms must make sure their pets are secure in their homes or gardens to prevent any attacks on sheep and other livestock.”

Officers would like to speak to anyone who has any information about this incident.
