POLICE would like to speak to a "distinctive" looking man following a series of wheelie bins fire in Barnstaple. The offences took place in the Hughes Avenue and Hollowtree Court areas of the town and several witnesses have given a specific description of a man seen in the area at the time.He is described as white, about five feet 11 inches tall, with gingery brown hair, long around the sides but bald on top, also wearing black rimmed glasses with thick lenses. He was wearing a pale denim jacket and jeans with a high waist that made them look too short."This is a very distinctive description and I'm sure some will recognise this man," said PC Dave Seymour, who is investigating the case."I'd urge him to come forward so we can eliminate him from the enquiry. "The damage so far has been confined to bins and adjoining walls or fences, but the offender must be stopped before further property is destroyed or life put at risk."Information can be passed to PC Seymour on 08452 777444 or in confidence via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, quoting police reference CB/09/47.
