Fire fighters were called to clean up a diesel spill in New Road, Bideford yesterday afternoon (Thursday).
A crew from Bideford recieved a call from police reporting the lorry outside of the town hall, just a few doors up from the station.
A hazardous material officer attended the scene along with crews to find the lorry leaking from its 250-litre tank of fuel.
Bideford photographer Graham Hobbs took these photos of the incident unravelling.
He said: “A lorry had a hole in its fuel tank and litres of diesel poured put into the road and down the storm drain.
“Work men from old Tantons Hotel plugged the hole with wood to prevent further spillage.
“Police coned off the area and the fire crew were at hand to stop the diesel by placing putty over the hole.
“Also Highways were there to place material to soak up the diesel.”
