Schoolgirl’s High Street cake sales are a hit with shoppers.

A FREMINGTON youngster has been busy raising money for Cancer Research UK during her school holidays.

Devon Parsely, 10, has held four cake sales in Barnstaple High Street, raising more than £230 for the charity during the last six months.

Her efforts have been inspired by her great aunt, who was only given six months to live after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 but is continuing to fight the disease.

“I wanted to do this for my aunt and to help other people with cancer,” said Devon, who has set out her stall outside men’s outfitters Fitzwell Collection, where her mum Jacquie works.

“I really enjoy holding the cake sales; it’s just nice to do something for charity,” she added.
