Held at Sandy Park, the Devon Life awards are a celebration of the best food and drink across the county. Dan the Fishman Garnett was awarded Food and Drink Hero of the year, sponsored by Darts Farm. The Coffee Cabin in Appledore won best tea room (sponsored by Radio Exe), for which Lynmouth Bay Cafe was also shortlisted. Fremington Quay won the Family Dining Award, which was sponsored by Sandy Park. Johns of Instow won best independent retailer of the year, sponsored by NFU Mutual. Owner Sue Johns said: Were incredibly excited to win Independent Food Retailer of the Year. An award thats come from our loyal customers and through mystery shopping is special. So proud of our amazing team and the impressive haul of awards for North Devon food and drink businesses with huge congratulations too to The Coffee Cabin, Dan the Fisherman and Fremington Quay Café. As well as the winners, several businesses were also shortlisted for awards and attended the evening. Higher Hacknell Organic Farm in Umberleigh was shortlisted for food product of the year. Custom House in Barnstaple was shortlisted for customer service award; The Coach House in Kentisbury for restaurant of the year; and The Cupcakery in Barnstaple for newcomer of the year.
