A home library service in North Devon is calling for more people to read its books.

Devon Home Library Service brings book to people who can no longer get to a library, with volunteers choosing and delivering books, sharing their love of a reading and providing a friendly face and a regular visit to their readers.

The home library is run by Devon Libraries in partnership with the Royal Voluntary Service and can be temporary or long-term depending on the condition of the reader.

Readers can order their own books online to be delivered by volunteers, and can be provided in different print sizes, audio and electronic formats.

Devon service manager Cathy Saunders said the service may help address loneliness and isolation in more rural locations.

She said: "We have great teams of volunteers in all the North Devon libraries who are willing to travel to the more rural locations, I am convinced there are more possible readers in the outlying areas who would benefit from the service."
