Devon County Football Association has raised £2,000 for Childrens Hospice South West (CHSW). The hospice was selected as Devon FAs charity partner for the 2016/17 season. The FA has raised money at a number of events, including the 2017 county cup finals and the 2016 Festival of Football, and concluded with a Devon FA v Plymouth Argyle match during pre-season. Devon FA chairman Bernard Leach said: Devon County Football Association are pleased to say we raised £2000.00 for CHSW who were our favoured Charity for Season 2016/2017. I would like to thank all of you who contributed and a special thanks to our Staff for their Fund Raising schemes. I wish CHWS the very best for now and the future. Zoe Miles, community fundraiser at CHSW said; Childrens Hospice South West is the only provider of hospice care for life-limiting conditions in Devon. At its Little Bridge House hospice near Barnstaple, the charity is currently supporting nearly 200 local families, yet many people across the county are unaware of the work it does. Having such a high profile charity partnership means such a lot to us as it allows us to raise awareness of the charity as a whole. It costs £3.4 million each year to run Little Bridge House and these costs are met almost entirely from voluntary donations. We could not continue to offer our care to children with life-limiting conditions without the incredible support from our local community and we cannot thank Devon FA enough for choosing us as a charity partner.
