LIVE Devon county election results coming in thick and fast from North Devon this morning, with Torridge set to follow
The first results are rolling in for North Devon in the Devon County Council election count today (Friday).
Independent Frank Biederman has taken Fremington, defeating Rodney Cann by 2,202 to 1,108 votes.
Brian Greenslade has retained his Barnstaple North seat for the Liberal Democrats – he has served 32 years as a councillor to date.
Jeremy Yabsley took the South Molton seat for the Conservatives with 2,217 votes compared to Lib Dem Matt Bushell’s 1,152.
Caroline Chugg has taken the Braunton Rural seat for the Conservatives.
Paul Crabb has taken the Ilfracombe seat for the Conservatives, unseating Mike Edmunds who had served as an independent.
Tony Inch has just taken the Bideford West and Hartland seat.
The Gazette has reporters at both counts at North Devon Leisure Centre in Barnstaple and Langtree Parish Hall in Torridge and we’ll bring you the results via our live blog as soon as they happen.
The run out for North Devon was 28,116 votes verified with a 37.64 per cent turnout, up four per cent on the turnout at the last county elections.
Voter turnout across in Torridge is roughly 37 per cent.
