STAFF at Banbury's department store in Barnstaple have capped an astounding year of fund-raising by donating a further 4,000 to two more worthy North Devon charities.Various members of staff at the High Street store have been touched by the work of the North Devon Hospice, and by the North Devon Cancer Care Trust. On Friday, they marked a year of fund-raising activities by presenting each charity with a cheque for 2,000."Many of us here have been overwhelmed by the tranquillity of the hospice and the vital work that both charities do to support our community," said Banbury's group personnel manager Jan Moore."Directors have very generously offered us items to auction and raffle during the last year, but this is very much a staff-led initiative."Earlier this year, staff at Banbury's Removals and Storage presented 2,000 to the Special Care Baby Unit at North Devon District Hospital, while in December, Banbury's Furnishings in Boutport Street presented 2,000 to the Devon Air Ambulance Trust."Members of staff chose the charities and decided how to raise the money," said staff council representative Jenny Mock.
